Visvim Brings Soft Hues For its Fall 2009 Collection

Pastel has long been the mainstay of nurseries and retirement homes. But this autumn, Japanese shoe company Visvim is putting pastel on the feet.

Bringing these soft hues to their much coveted 'Hockney' model, Visvim is boldly going where only Don Johnson in "Miami Vice" has gone before. Each pair sports one of five pastel colors, and has white detailing, laces and soles. These beauties are sure to make a statement, without saying a word.

Implications - It's almost impossible to avoid, but colors are almost always associated with different vocations and lifestyles in fashion. Unfortunately, pastel and other unlucky shades have been pigeon-holed into unflattering roles. Although it's a risky business proposition, design companies capable of "emancipating" or reclaiming colors and hues will be rewarded with the support of equally risk-prone buyers.
