Any Italian knows this Holiday season will be filled with gifts of panetone and why not re-purpose this gift and make a delicious panetone zuccotto.

Zuccotto is a traditional northern Italian delicacy and usually calls for plain sponge, but when panetone is in abundance switch it up. The decadent dessert combines the rich flavors of fresh ricotta, sugar, nuts and fruit for a festive dessert. Foodie Antonio Carluccio from the BBC hit show ‘Two Greedy Italians’ suggests swapping ingredients and creating your own twist on a traditional Italian treat.

The zuccotto requires no baking time and is served as a ricotta pudding. With little effort and the ability to use the excess food at Christmas, panetone zuccotto is a wonderful alternative that will call to every sweet and savory lover.
