'One Day Young' is a newborn photography series by celebrity shutterbug Jenny Lewis.
None of the women in this series are famous faces, nor are they familiar faces for Lewis. She advertised for the project with the following message: "My aim is to capture the extraordinary bonding, warmth and strength between mother and infant. In fact the whole range of amazing emotions felt at that time, as the mothering instinct kicks in."
Each photo immortalizes an intimate, fleeting moment that signals the beginning of a burgeoning, life-long bond. The series captures a range of emotion, with some of the women joyfully grinning at their babies, while others close their eyes in an emotional reverie or simply gaze at the camera with pride.
