Yukai Engineering Inc.'s Necoron Baby Sleep Monitor Signals Optimal Bedtime

— January 5, 2026 — Tech
The Necoron baby sleep monitor by Yukai Engineering uses heart rate sensing to indicate when an infant has reached a sleep state suitable for being put down. The system includes a soft ankle band fitted with a biometric sensor that tracks heart rate changes associated with deeper sleep stages. Data is transmitted to a separate main unit, which displays colour-coded LED indicators to show different sleep readiness states based on the monitored signals.

Heart rate data is processed using an algorithm developed with research input from RIKEN to distinguish lighter and deeper sleep phases. The LED display provides a visual cue without requiring sound or screen interaction, allowing parents to check sleep timing without disturbing the child. The device was presented as a prototype at CES 2026 and is being developed in collaboration with Takara Tomy, with a commercial release planned for 2026.
