Atomic Attire

Erin Fetherston's 2010 Mushroom-Cloud Fashion Collection

Erin Fetherston's spring 2010 collection is, literally, the bomb. In an ode to the atomic version of the explosive, Erin Fetherston put together a collection that draws from the aftermath of molecular detonation with mushroom-cloud fashion.

Soft, poufy frills spotted with soft groupings of feathers floated around the models like the billowing clouds emanating from an atomic bomb test site.

The imaginative placement of ruffles draw a strong comparison to actual mushroom-clouds.

Implications - Erin Fetherston’s spring 2010 collection draws inspiration for its design from a very unlikely source. What I particularly like about this concept is that it tries to capture the excitement behind the sublime. Have a gander at the photos and do not forget to leave your thoughts in the comment section.
