MIT CSAIL Researchers Made Timecraft to Replicate Painting Techniques

Researchers from the MIT CSAIL lab created an AI-powered machine learning system that can replicate famous paintings. The system is named Timecraft and it has the ability to determine the techniques used to create a painting and then replicate it. Timecraft was trained using 200 videos showing how digital and watercolor paintings were made. The researchers found that Timecraft was able to replicate the painting at a higher level than the original creator in 90% of trails.

MIT CSAIl will release the code used to create Timecraft, and people will be able to use the system. In the future, Timecraft could be used as an educational tool to demonstrate different painting techniques and help train artists.
