Maurizio Galimberti Redefines the Way People Look at Portraits

Photographer Maurizio Galimberti uses snapshots of some of the most famous faces in the business and places them together in mosaic form.

The artist, whose series is entitled Celebrity Works, makes use of such well-known actors as Johnny Depp, Catherine Zeta-Jones and George Clooney. Putting together polaroid pictures in a grid-like formation creates a psychedelic experience where the traditional portrait style is manipulated and altered in a creative way. Maurizio Galimberti compares the making of his artwork to music. The photos are specifically arranged to bring the viewers attention to a central focus of the subject's face. This is intended so that even though some features are amplified and even distorted, the viewer is always able to see the photographer's true intent.
