Entitled "Poetry of Dissection", this collection by Maria Lola Roche embodies an Avant Garde visual aesthetic. The designer explores human forms and abstracts the body with geometric shapes and sculptural elements.
Putting visual focus on the ribcage, the designer explores the body part's negative and positive spaces and creates wearable art pieces that are reminiscent of vintage haute couture garments. Whether showcasing pleated Shakespearean collars or structured dress forms, Maria Lola Roche proves that vintage elegance is very present in today's modern world.
The Irish designer is a graduate from the Griffith College in Dublin and has garnered awards and nominations for sme of fashion's most prestigious awards. Roche was named Young Designer of the Year 2012 and was shortlisted for the Irish Peroni Awards in 2013.
