Mysterious Avant-Garde Photography

Darkly surreal and mysteriously avant-garde, the Le Desert B photo series is a tribute to Jean 'Moebius' Giraud, "a French artist, cartoonist, and writer, who worked in the Franco-Belgian bandes dessinées tradition," as written on Wikipedia. Taking his signature style of illustrations and applying it to the 'real' world, Spanish photographer Mikel Muruzabal has created an alien world that would set anyone's teeth on edge.

Starring model Nekane, the Le Desert B photo series focuses a lot on eerie red lights and steel grey backdrops, whether that manifests in the form of concrete, sand or sky. The looks featured throughout are equally ominous. The brunette beauty was styled by Ara Rodríguez while her shadowed eyes and flawless skin was worked on by makeup artist Arturo Nuez.
