Those who don't want to spend money on auto accessories such as laptop mounts can fashion their own DIY version using their vehicle's existing cup holder.
Mike Davis needed a way to use his laptop safely and securely while driving in his truck. Unable to afford the commercial laptop stands, which retailed for about $300, Davis decided to transform his center console into a base upon which his laptop could rest. He decided to share the wealth, making his successful DIY experiment available online for others in a similar situation.
To make, users need to invest in PVC pipes, fittings and plywood sheets, which can be purchased for around $30. The step-by-step instructions (and pictures) are available on Davis' site.
