Meta's Waddle World turns a virtual pet into a journaling app for players, pairing egg-hatching and feeding with AI chat and illustrated diary replies. Users can type or dictate entries to their pet, which answers in character and adds a small drawing tied to the exchange.
The game uses a 16-bit look and is available in the Philippines at launch. It has been live since late September and includes mini-games that award points for food and toys, including a grocery-stacking challenge and a falling-star game.
Currently, the Philippines-only availability gives Meta a contained market for testing an AI companion built around repeat journaling rather than one-off prompts. The pet replies and doodles turn daily diary use into training data shaped by play, which widens how AI chat can be packaged for casual users.
