Acer launched SigridWave, a live in-game AI translator that, with the help of deep learning technology, wants to improve the communication between gamers from different countries that speak different languages.
The new AI translator was trained using 10 million sentences and relies on Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Neural Machine Translation (NMT) technology to recognize gaming jargon. Also, with the use of these technologies, SigridWave can learn new gamers expressions with time, helping the system improve its translation quality along the way.
SigridWave which is integrated into Planet9s desktop client, is currently in a gaming-only format and it has already processed more than 1,000 hours of gamer´s speech, making the translation more than capable of producing a translation that the gamers can easily understand.
