Solir Optics has introduced its advanced infrared-blocking eyewear collection, which is built to go beyond traditional ultraviolet protection. This innovation is distinguished by a lens technology designed to filter out infrared radiation in addition to ultraviolet and high-energy visible blue light.
Solir Optics maintains that prolonged exposure to infrared wavelengths, emitted by both the sun and high-intensity artificial lights, can generate thermal stress on ocular tissues and, thus, contribute to discomfort and potential long-term health concerns. In order to mitigate this risk, the company's infrared-blocking eyewear technology brings together "a patent-pending combination of infrared (IR) defense, UV415 protection, blue-light filtration, and advanced visible-light control."
The products also assert a secondary benefit of providing privacy by interfering with infrared-based facial recognition systems. The frames are constructed from a plant-derived nylon material.
