This year, those in the fashion industry and the local indigenous community will get to celebrate the first ever Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto, scheduled to take place during the first week of June. The event will highlight indigenous-made fashion, textiles, and crafts through a series of runway shows, panels, lectures, workshops, a curated exhibition, and a market place.
Not only will there be exclusively indigenous-made products on sale and on display throughout Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto, but the event promises that 75 percent of the works will be from indigenous women, who make up some of the most underrepresented voices in Canada. Further, the event will host a 'Far North Spotlight' with delegations from Nunavut and Greenland.
Indigenous Fashion Week Toronto is set to run from May 31st to June 3rd at the Harbourfront Centre.
