Theakston Brewery has teamed up with the kombucha producer Equinox Kombucha to launch Hopbucha – a hybrid alcohol-free fermented drink.
Combining the brewing heritage of traditional British beer with the functional benefits of kombucha, Hopbucha offers consumers a delicious new alcohol-free drink option. The drink is fermented using Equinox’s SCOBY to deliver the beneficial live cultures and signature mouthfeel associated with kombucha. The fermented tea is then flavored with hops, which gives it a citrus bitterness that's more closely associated with beer. As Andy Braithwaite, Managing Director of Equinox Kombucha, explains, “What started as a fun experiment to see how we could collaborate and combine our skills to play with a palate of exciting flavours has transformed into something special that offers the best of both brewing worlds."
