The Eton FRX3 Hand Crank Charger is a life-saver.
Able to broadcast AM/FM radio stations and all seven NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) weather band stations, the hand crank in the middle of the red defibrillator-looking charger also acts as a phone charger that be administered by rotating a hand turbine on the radio.
Equipped with an 'Alert' function that, when turned on, automatically broadcasts emergency weather alerts for the area, such as warnings of hurricanes, tornadoes and severe storms, the $60 radio is powered by AAA batteries and comes with DC power alternatives. By setting the solar panel in the sun or by spinning the hand turbine for one minute, the hand crank charger can supply up to 10 to 15 minutes of radio and flashlight use. It also comes with a LED flashlight and red flashing beacon for emergencies.
For more leisurely uses, the radio has a AUX-input to play your own music and a headphone jack for individual listening.
