String-Sensing Guitar Gadgets

The 'HyVibe' System Turns Acoustic Guitars Into Effects Processors

French sound technology company HyVibe has launched an innovative new guitar gadget that is designed to make it easier than ever for guitarists to go about achieving an optimal balance between the freshness and vibrancy of acoustic strings with the versatility and convenience of electric and digital music technologies.

The eponymous HyVibe gadget is embedded with a sensor that measures string vibrations, with a pair of actuators embedded inside the guitar enabling the vibrations to be re-measured, at which point any feedback is edited out in a process that is believed to take 23 millionths of a second. For added convenience, guitarists can use the interface on the primary guitar to control settings.

Able to be installed onto existing acoustic guitars, HyVibe's latest and greatest guitar gadget is a fine example of the application and viability of high-speed processing technologies to acoustic instruments, allowing musicians to achieve the best of both worlds.
