Camera-Integrated Smart Home Tech

A New Version of Google Smart Display Will Have a Fall Launch

The new Google Smart Display will be the first Google-produced smart home technology to feature a camera. The new model is titled the Nest Hub Max and will feature a 10-inch display as well as an onboard camera. The Nest Hub Max will be released on September 9th, 2019, and will have a $229 price point.

Previous smart home technology from Google did not feature a camera on the design -- this was done in an effort to cater to privacy-concerned users. However, there was a Nest rebrand for Google's smart home devices, where the camera will serve two purposes. The first purpose that camera integration serves is video call capabilities, the second reason to include a camera in the design is that it can be used as a security camera.
