Google is now using its Gemini AI tool to help consumers discover new restaurants, as well as provide users with reviews to back up the suggestions. Using artificial intelligence, the new feature summarizes relevant reviews, pulls up themed collections, and also allows users to ask questions about content featured in the review section. Users can also access standard results underneath the restaurant suggestions.
“We wanted to make sure that anything we show in this experience is fresh and factual,” said Google Maps head Miriam Daniel. “There are 100 million updates happening every day, and we’re able to pull from that refreshed fresh information and ground the results from Gemini... making sure that the results show real places on the map.”
