Rolex's Four Daytonas Raise AUD $70.7M for Charity at Phillips

Rolex turned the 'Cosmograph Daytona' into four singular collector's watches tied to spring, summer, autumn and winter, giving bidders a more character-driven way to pursue ultra-rare luxury. Each piece paired precious metal with stone dials, colored gems and diamond-set details, rather than treating uniqueness as a minor dial tweak.

Spring used 18 ct white gold with chrysoprase and lepidolite, while Winter moved to 950 platinum with blue opal and lapis lazuli, so the concept shifted in mood as much as in material. At Phillips in London, the quartet brought in roughly AUD$70.7 million, with the proceeds directed to Re:wild and the Federer Foundation.

For collectors, this means rare-watch bidding is shifting toward fully authored stories rather than isolated trophy pieces. Rolex did not just make four scarce Daytonas; it gave each one a season, a palette and a charitable outcome, making provenance part of the prize.
