G. H. Bass Has Introduced its New Panama Loafer Style

G.H. Bass, a heritage-focused American footwear label, has unveiled its newest silhouette, the unisex Panama loafer. The new shoe sees the brand reinstating its signature styles and design codes while drawing inspiration from the iconic penny loafer.

The new Panama loafer is made from premium polished leather and features an all-natural leather sole. In addition, it features a sleek silver bar, which comes engraved with a penny slot -- a design choice that functions as a direct nod to the penny loafer.

For those unfamiliar, the penny loafer is a shoe style that was first launched in the 1930s, which boasted a first-of-its-kind design that featured a small space on either shoe where wearers could store a single penny; a phone booth call at the time costs exactly two pennies, making the introduction of the penny slot a convenient and utility-focused design element.
