ÆTHER/MASS prepares to launch new items in Brussels during the upcoming Collectibles Fair and one of these is the Forge candelabra. This is made in the workshop of Dujardyn's master blacksmiths and the inspiration is drawn from the fusion of raw physical strength and fire. The blend of these creates an elegantly refined structure and the forging process retains through the tactile texture of its surface to display the raw artisanal process. The fire is represented by the candles.
Davy Grosemans explains, "Working with skilled craftsmen is the guiding principle in my work. The synergy between craftsmen and designers is at the forefront. Despite the popularity of crafts and the involvement of many young 'makers' working with their hands, authentic craftsmen are scarce. I'm talking about individuals who have an in-depth knowledge of their materials and can deliver exceptionally high quality. Personally, I aim to think broadly, sample various aspects, and experiment across different disciplines initially. Subsequently, I can delve deeper into the matter."
