Fujifilm is expanding instant cameras with the Instax Square 2, a square-format model for Instax users who want to shift the color mood before each print. Its standout addition is a body switch that moves between two lens filters, giving photos either a warmer cast or a cooler blue tint at capture.
The camera keeps the line's automatic exposure and flash, and it pairs with a new Soft Haze square film that lowers saturation and contrast for gentler-looking prints. It will arrive in late October for $120, while the film lands at the same time for $19.
At $120, switchable in-camera filters turn the Instax Square 2 into a more hands-on alternative to editing after the shot, especially for instant-photo users who want a look locked into the print. AA batteries also widen its everyday practicality, removing a more specialized battery purchase from the Instax routine.
