This Eclectic Photo Shoot Creates Hidden References to the Occult

Dutch photographer Robbert Jacobs's editorial 'Sacred Wisdom' for Eclectic magazine in its Fall 2013 issue is a stunning shoot rich in hidden references following the trend of Neo-Paganism with hints of shamanism in fashion.

Among ethereal lighting, the model is clad in long flowing dresses from designers Ilja, Glenn Martens and Alexis Reyna. The designs are fit for a modern day wicca as she lays across an ancient tomb, columns built for gods, and spread across pyramid temple. Stylist Igor V re-imagines the semi-haute couture dresses in a new setting where female strength is summoned up in the occult.

Wood and the ancient scarab beetle play a pivotal role throughout the editorial against accessories as fierce as a metal claw glove. While the make-up borders ghostly and godly, the backdrop adds a touch of mother nature among the ancient and neo-classical ruins.
