With a $250 million budget, the Dark Knight Rises finale was a big deal from start to finish. Coming off the uber-successful Dark Knight, the final piece of the Batman puzzle had some big shoes to fill from its successor.
The film now holds the number three position behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two and the Avengers for highest grossing opening weekend -- beating out the Dark Knight. Overall, between major movie critic sites such as Rotten Tomatoes and MetaCritic, the movie has a 4.5/5 average rating. It has done best in terms of ratings with the under 18 crowd, but holds mostly above an 80 percent approval rating from both genders throughout the rest of the age ranges.
