The vision of contemporary Japanese designers is ever-expanding into the realm of Western European and North American spaces thanks to the diversification of streetwear brands and their inspirations. A great example of this is the lookbook for the seasonal Spring/Summer 2020 collection by UNIVERSAL PRODUCTS – an influential brand that is based in Japan and which celebrates 10 years of operation. One of the platforms that called attention to it was the popular streetwear website HYPEBEAST.
The garments in the collection by UNIVERSAL PRODUCTS take stylistic cues from expert contemporary Japanese designers. Revealed just before the end of 2019, the capsule is built on the concept of minimalism that embraces various “workwear staples and wardrobe essentials.”
