Telefónica Digitizes Negratín's Energy Projects with IoT Tools

Connected energy construction sites are giving project managers greater operational visibility as Telefónica and Negratín Group deploy a digital management system across photovoltaic projects in Colombia. The solution combines IoT connectivity, real-time location tracking and smart access controls to continuously monitor workers, materials and site activity. Supported by Telefónica’s connectivity infrastructure, the system currently manages 215 devices and assets while centralizing project data to support faster decision-making.

For Negratín, replacing manual and decentralized processes with real-time monitoring can improve team coordination, material traceability and safety while helping complex energy projects remain on schedule. The pilot covers projects totaling 38.4 MWp of photovoltaic capacity, with plans for broader deployment across the company’s energy plants. For Telefónica, the collaboration demonstrates how its connectivity services can extend into specialized industrial applications, creating opportunities to support digital transformation across construction and renewable energy projects.
