Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves

Maryam Pousti Designs the Cheft Bookshelf Under Studio Pousti

Designer and founder of the architectural practice Studio Pousti is also the mind behind its new Cheft bookshelf. It is a geometrically shaped bookshelf that is made in a dynamic form. To construct the functional shelf, the studio uses interlocking sheets of wood and it can notably be assembled without relying on flue, screws, or nails.

Additionally, it can also be used as a room divider due to its shelf or a space to store other items in the home. Maryam explains that “Two sets of six panels intersect through angle-specific grooves which are cut using a four-axis CNC machine. The name Cheft, meaning ‘to fasten’, derives from the way the panels slide into each other and lock in place to form a freestanding object.”
