Deadstock-Formed Furniture

Karimoku & ASICS Create the Castor Sofa and Polar Lounge Chairs

The Karimoku New Standard ASICS Edition updates the Castor sofa and Polar lounge chair through a collaboration that applies sport-inspired materials and colour references to two established furniture designs. Developed by Karimoku New Standard in partnership with ASICS, the limited editions reinterpret the Castor sofa’s modular, low-profile structure and the Polar lounge chair’s relaxed, open form using upholstery informed by athletic performance textiles. Colour selections draw from ASICS brand palettes while maintaining the neutral, architectural tone associated with Karimoku’s furniture collections.

Both seating pieces are constructed using Karimoku’s wood manufacturing expertise, with frames produced in Japan and finished to support durability and long-term use. Cushions are designed for extended comfort, balancing softness with structural support, and branding is applied subtly to avoid disrupting the original silhouettes.
