Gisung Han designed the Calming Noise Radio concept, which is a nostalgic design with a modern twist. It creates a tactile experience of a radio that operated eras ago but also integrates contemporary habits such as the tactile functions of tapping on our devices. This concept builds on the dials as users are able to change from one station to the next.
The designer ensured that the dials were made to be large so that visually and tactile-approach, it truly stand out. It reflects a wheel-like look and is meant to bring forth a sense of nostalgia. The rectangular shape nods to a classic radio and there is the addition of felt-style grills for a contrasting look.
