Now that the world has reached a mind-boggling population of over 7 billion people and counting, concepts like the Autonomous Travel Pod are more necessary than ever. Inspired by biomimicry & artificial intelligence, it was conceived to provide an alternative to other modes of transportation that congest roadways. It would also improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

Created by Melbourne-based designer Charles Rattray, the Autonomous Travel Pod is equipped with an on-board computer that makes real-time decisions to control direction, detect surrounding objects and anticipate events. It brings to mind the vehicles used in the movie 'I, Robot.'

By synchronizing and coordinating the traffic in urban cities, the Autonomous Travel Pod is not only eco-friendly and convenient, it could potentially save lives as well.
