The work of Adriana Duque, a photographer based in Colombia, is visually striking for a number of a reasons. She photographs children as Victorian icons decked out in theatrical dresses and posed seriously among rich fabrics that often complement the outfits worn. Yet the Adriana Duque's images are captured in such a way that they appear to be classical paintings more than photographs.

Portrayed as child monarchs, Adriana Duque's young models have an air of maturity that is at once endearing and off-putting. Trendland points out, "As many paintings from past eras, if proper attention isn’t given you’ll miss out an important component: all models are sporting headphones." Of course, these headphones are embellished with shimmering gold trimmings and pearl details.
