New Balance's 991 Sneaker Gets a Hender Scheme Makeover

Hender Scheme works in collaboration with New Balance on a new iteration of the 991 sneaker model for the season. It boasts a timeless look and is entirely made from leather materials, true to the design language of Hender Scheme. It is set to join the Winter/Spring 2023 collection by Hender Scheme that is launching on December 3rd in Japan with a later global drop to follow.

In terms of the construction, it is full of stitched layers of veg-tanned leather materials that are applied to the patina and age with time. It also sits on top of a leather sole unit that is designed to soften and age with time as well. It has a hammer leather sole and lack of cushioning that is usually seen in most New Balance sneakers.
