Meijer is Making Thanksgiving More Financially Feasible

The Midwestern retail chain Meijer has initiated a seasonal pricing strategy for Thanksgiving. The grocer's approach focuses on reducing the cost of numerous grocery items, including turkeys, that are essential for holiday meals.

Meijer is making its frozen turkeys available for 49 cents per pound or less and additionally running discounts up to 50 percent on more than 90 Meijer brand grocery essentials — from canned vegetables to stuffing mix, and baking supplies. Meijer President & CEO Rick Keyes, shared about the initiative: "As a family-owned company, we understand the importance of holiday traditions like Thanksgiving dinner. We're working hard to provide low prices on turkey and holiday staples so our customers can enjoy a special meal with their family and friends without having to worry about the cost."

The retailer is supplementing this price reduction effort with a complementary charitable program that donates meals to community food pantries based on customer purchases of its branded goods.
