Formula E Unveiled the Generation 3 Car Design for Season 9

Formula E announced the next generation of standardized electric vehicle racing cars, the Formula E Gen3 model. The third-generation electric race car is reported to be faster, lighter, and have a faster-charging battery than its predecessor. This car will be the standard Formula E model for Season 9 of the sports championship, which takes place between 2022 and 2023.

The Gen3 model will have a dual-motor design whereby the front motor boasts 335 horsepower and the rear motor clocks 470 horsepower. These engines are expected to deliver speeds greater than 200 miles per hour. On top of the raw power of the car, its overall weight is now reduced from the 1,984-pound Gen2 car to 1,720 pounds for the Gen3 model. This is partially due to the battery's weight which has been reduced from 848 pounds to 626 pounds.
