31 Neighborhood-Specific Apps

From Parisian Rideshare Apps to Geotagged Wishlist Apps:

While there are now thousands of services to connect people on opposite sides of the globe, there's also been a resurgence in neighborhood-specific apps that introduce locals to like-minded community members and businesses.

One of the best examples of this is a series of apps under the name 'Neighbrhds.' Rather than creating one standalone app to encompass an umbrella of communities, Neighbrhds features individual apps for the hubs in major cities, such as San Francisco's Pacific Heights, Union Square and Dogpatch. Each of these apps has its own dedicated feed that connects residents to local news, upcoming entertainment and real estate listings.

There are many apps that are designed to help consumers get gift ideas, but 'Wisher' is unique in that it puts a spin on the concept that helps shoppers support local businesses. With this app, users are able to compile geotagged gift lists based on local deals.

With the rise in mobile browsing and shopping, many brands are creating strategies that specifically engage locals, versus attempting to appeal to a broad global audience.
