17 Crowdsourced Innovations

17 Crowdsourced Innovations:

The New 7 Wonders is an excellent example of a crowdsourced innovation. It allows an opportunity for everyone in the world to campaign and vote for what they feel are significant wonders in nature. In December, the list will be cut down to the best representative wonders of each country; the list will get shorter as time goes on until 2011, when the New 7 Wonders will be annnounced. So far, photos 2-10 top the list.

Crowdsourced sales websites offer both professionals and amateurs alike a chance to make their products known. Journalism sites like Trend Hunter are places to showcase numerous talented writers who may or may not have a college degree.

A few companies we've featured are crowdsourcing using contests to garner fresh and new ideas for their products or, as in the case of Trend Hunter, a television show.

Regardless of the type of crowdsourcing being used, be it for art, products, TV shows, inventions, or a global voting initiative that will be in science books, I think it's a trend that will continue to improve and perhaps change the way business is done throughout the world.
