Efficient Aerodynamic Shipping Trucks

This New Concept from Volvo Trucks Reduces Emissions by 30%

Long-haul transportation trucks are an essential component to modern shipping, so Volvo Trucks has created a new concept truck that would look to make them more efficient than ever. The truck concept is the product of a five-year research project that was run in collaboration between Volvo and the Swedish Energy Agency.

The aerodynamic design of the concept truck mixed with innovative engine technology allows the vehicle to use 30% less fuel than traditional trucks currently on the road. This is achieved through reduced weight, an aerodynamic design and specially designed tires that reduce resistance.

The Volvo Trucks concept truck is not currently available for purchase, but several features that are highlighted with the concept vehicle have been incorporated into the other offerings by the truck brand.
