Apple has updated its Siri Remote with a built-in speaker that lets users make it ring when it goes missing. Owners can trigger the sound through Siri or the Find My app, making it easier to locate a remote lost between sofa cushions or elsewhere around the house.
The new remote also supports Precision Finding, which uses a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch to guide users towards it with on-screen arrows and distance information. It works with existing Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD devices, so there is no need to replace the streaming box to get the new features.
The remote costs $59 through Apple's online store, with pre-orders shipping from Friday, November 13. For Apple TV owners who regularly misplace their remote, it offers a straightforward upgrade without the expense of buying an entirely new streaming device.
