In honor of Social Media Day 2013, British Council has released an infographic with five golden rules that parents can use to ensure social media safety for their children.
According to this chart, 80% of 12-15 year olds in the UK are active on social networking sites and 35% of children have unsupervised access to the net. Not only are children spending more time online, but the age for watching and downloading user-generated content is getting younger and younger. One of the most important things parents can do is create a dialogue with their kids about their online activities and what kind of information is being shared.
Maintaining social media safety means getting involved and interested.
