Incorporating the sense of smell into advertising is a new marketing phenomenon that is starting to see larger corporations catch on. At Trend Hunter, we’ve kept our eye on what’s been dubbed as “Scent Marketing” for some time now, watching it evolve from smaller companies promoting scratch ‘n’ sniff text books, to bigger companies like Sony selling smell phones.

I remember my neuro psyche prof explaining that the olfactory sense is the only sense that has a direct connection to your brain (less relaying)... As a result, it is the only sense that can immediately trigger powerful memories... So if marketers can learn how to tap into those memories properly, you'll buy more stuff (that you don't need). Nice!
