Scalable Restaurant Automation

Ricoh and Hyphen Partner to Expand Robotic Kitchens

Ricoh and Hyphen are expanding scalable restaurant automation through a partnership that helps food-service businesses introduce robotic meal preparation across multiple locations. The collaboration combines Hyphen's Automated Makeline with Ricoh's deployment and maintenance services, allowing restaurants to adopt automated systems without managing every stage of implementation independently.

Hyphen's technology assembles rice and salad bowls beneath the counter using orders received through digital channels, while employees continue assisting customers above the counter. The system can prepare more than 200 meals per hour, supporting faster order fulfillment and consistent food preparation.

For restaurant operators, this partnership could simplify the expansion of automated kitchens while addressing rising labor and operating expenses. Ricoh's ongoing technical support may also reduce deployment challenges for larger chains. Meanwhile, Hyphen gains additional resources to expand its technology across the U.S. food-service market.
