The Jason Powell 'Looking Into The Past' collection features many modern day locations in their natural beauty, only with a historic twist them.
Using black and white photographs that were taken once upon a time, Powell ventures to the pictured places and holds up said photos to the identical background. Powell's collection shows what the backdrop had looked like, in all of their original glory, in comparison to its current state. This set of photographs holds a sense of character unique to this collection, as history is melded with the present, and the progression of time on landmarks and photography quality is shown.
Jason Powell creates a similar photo set using the Eiffel Tower as a backdrop. Using photos of the iconic landmark from the 1900's, he superimposes the original photos on the pictures he takes in 2012.
