Piao Collection Presents Creative Use of Traditional Chinese Rice Paper

The Piao Collection was born from the collaboration of Lei Zhang from studio Innovo in China, German designer Christoph John and Serbian designer Jovana Bogdanovic.

The three creators of the Piao Collection by Pinwu design set out to explore the alternative contemporary design usage of the Chinese tradition of rice paper-making.

The research, the local paper-crafting workshops and the creative development of the Piao Collection progressed under the Future Traditions concept name. The designer trio experimented gluing many layers of Yuhang paper to create a flexible and strong paper strand, capable of carrying a person.

The Piao Collection consists of the Piao Paper-Chair, Piao Table, Piao Yi and Xu paper lamps, Piao Cha Paper Storage and more. It is meant to introduce the Yuhang paper to the world of design, renew the industry of a Chinese region and keep a tradition alive.
