The Philliebot is Literally a Lean Mean Pitching Machine

As a baseball fan, I am a little scared by the potential of UPENN's PhillieBot. The PhillieBot is a student-designed robot whose purpose is to pitch. The PhillieBot recently showed off its skills at the Phillies own Citizens Bank Park throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

In the video, the PhillieBot fails to even get the ball to home, but with good reason. Apparently, the Phillies' mascot broke his wrist last year catching a third pitch and asked for the PhillieBot's speed to be turned way down. While the robot was met with a chorus of boos at the stadium, I can only imagine how hard he can throw in private. The age of robot baseball players is possibly upon us.
