Each character embodies an issue that the Party aims to tackle like Gamagucchan, a purse that represents tax reduction for Japanese households and Otento-sun, a sun whose mission is to combat nuclear power. These adorable characters appeal to younger voters and make Party's stance on important world issues very understandable. The use of these characters have been incredibly effective for the Japan Communist Party, inciting youth to dress up in costume as these characters to show their support for these issues and the Party.
