‘Gasland' Natural Gas Documentary Shows Flaming Tap Water

‘Gasland’ is a recent film by Josh Fox that examines the environmental and health consequences of natural gas drilling; flaming tap water is one of them.

Flammable drinking water is a reality for many communities near natural gas extraction facilities that use hydraulic fracturing, or ‘fracking,’ to harvest natural gas. Fracking injects millions of gallons of water and chemicals at high pressure into deep underground wells to break up rock formations and release trapped natural gas bubbles. The byproducts of fracking include a lot of nasty cancer-causing chemicals and flaming tap water.
