PerPlant is bringing its AI crop sensor to new Valtra tractors as a factory-installed option, allowing farmers to map fields and direct spot spraying without a separate retrofit. Built through Valtra Unlimited, the roof-mounted unit uses two cameras to scan crops and convert those readings into application maps for weed spraying and fertilizer rates, even at night.
The setup works with ISOBUS equipment, the common control standard for implements, and sends season-long field data into farm management systems. Sales begin this month in selected European markets, and PerPlant links the system to input cuts of 40% to 87%, depending on the implement.
Factory-fitting on new Valtra tractors makes crop sensing a tractor-order choice rather than a later add-on. The selected European rollout also widens PerPlant's data-collection footprint, so every pass can feed its field-mapping business.

What Makes This Trend Stand Out
- Factory-fitted Agtech
- Embedding crop intelligence directly into new machinery shifts precision farming from aftermarket upgrades to default equipment configurations.
- Nighttime Crop Sensing
- Camera-based field scanning that operates after dark expands autonomous and semi-autonomous farm work into longer operating windows.
- Input-reducing Spray Maps
- AI-generated application maps support lower chemical and fertilizer use while creating data services around every tractor pass.
Sectors Adopting This
- Agricultural Machinery
- Tractor manufacturers gain new differentiation by integrating sensing hardware and digital agronomy capabilities at the factory.
- Precision Agriculture
- Farm data platforms become more valuable as equipment continuously feeds crop, weed, and application insights into management systems.
- Agrochemicals
- Reduced-input spraying technologies pressure chemical suppliers to develop products and services aligned with targeted application models.
