Artist Lynn Fellman creates science-inspired fine art. Her techniques are varied, but one popular commissioned item incorporates individual genome sequencing codes into portraiture.

Fellman’s clients purchase DNA kits from The Genographic Projects. After swabbing the inside of their cheeks, they submit the sample for DNA testing. Once the results are returned, Fellman creates a portrait. Clients choose one of four digital images as backgrounds. Each background contains a map where Fellman traces the client’s ancestral journeys. East Africa is where all of humanity originated roughly 60,000 years ago.

Fellman is a Minneapolis artist and blogger. She interviews for Atheists Talk radio and is enthusiastic about science.  Stats for Genetic Sequencing Art Trending: Older & Average
