MeatLikeMike's Crispy Smashed Roasted Potatoes Are Viral

At-home cooking has grown tremendously in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. Many are looking online to find easy and delicious recipes, specifically on the popular social media platform TikTok.

Content creator @meatlikemike recently shared a TikTok recipe that to date has garnered over 34 million views for a recipe dubbed 'Crispy Smashed Roasted Potatoes.' To create the viral masterpiece, @meatlikemike tells viewers to oil then drain the potatoes. Next, in a bowl, cover the boiled potatoes with a generous amount of olive oil, onion powder, garlic powder, fresh basil and thyme, then add salt and pepper. After mixing, lay the potatoes on a baking sheet and use a glass to smash them. Cook them for 30 mins at 325 degrees.

While this video has become extremely popular, new varieties of the recipe have already started circulating the Internet with small tweaks for preference. As consumers continue to look to social media platforms for food inspiration, we can expect more recipes from the space.
